Job Description
Our client is looking for two experienced Code 10 (C1) Driving Instructors to join their team. The successful candidates will be responsible for training learner drivers according to K53 standards, ensuring safety, and maintaining professional driving instruction practices.
Responsibilities
- Teach learners vehicle safety inspections (tyres, lights, oil, water, brake fluid, licence disc - pre-trip inspection)
- Train learners in yard manoeuvres required for tests, including alley docking, incline starts, and straight reversing
- Instruct learners on road and freeway driving (Gear selection for heavy vehicles, Lane discipline, Mirror and blind-spot observation, Safe following distances, Hazard anticipation and defensive driving)
- Prepare learners to successfully pass the K53 driving licence test
- Ensure all training vehicles are roadworthy, clean, and properly maintained
- Schedule lessons, communicate with learners regarding lesson times and test bookings
- Maintain records of learner progress and performance
- Evaluate learners’ readiness for practical driving tests
- Adhere to the South African Independent Driving Instructor (SAIDI) Code of Conduct, including punctuality, professional attire, and ethical conduct
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Valid Code C1 driver’s licence (or higher)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a driving instructor
- Clean criminal record
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
- Registration as a driving instructor (Grade A, B, or C) is an added advantage
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic marketing skills
